Time for Tubes!!
Poor little Drew has one heck of a month! His ear infections started on St. Patrick's Day; he was put on four different antibiotics to treat, but none of them worked. He was sent to a specialist after the shots failed and he decided it was time for tubes! In addition to the ear infections, Drew's had pink eye three times during this time period as well as thrush and an intestinal infection (thrush and intest. infection were direct results of all of the antibiotics). Surgery was first thing Monday morning (Monday, April 23rd). Drew was in great spirits before surgery, despite the fact that he hadn't eaten since midnight. He flirted with all of the nurses, flashing those baby blues at anyone that would look ;) The after surgery experience wasn't as pleasant. He woke up screaming and that continued for about 20 minutes. A day later and he still seems to be in pain. Hopefully he'll start feeling better today and will finally have some relief in his poor little ears. Here are some pre-surgery pictures...

Ear Infections - Week 3
Sunday night was another bad night for Drew and his ears. We thought antibiotic #3 was going to work, but apparently, it didn't. Drew was in a great deal of pain most of the night/early morning on Monday so Mommy stayed home from work to take him back to the doctor again. Doctor confirmed that his ears were still infected and that we needed to move to the last resort medication; Rocephin which is administered via shots in each of his legs. The nurse warned us that they are painful shots since the medicine is thick, poor Drew was heartbroken. He was flirting with the pretty nurse and thought she was playing with him when she laid him down on the table. His face was sooo pitiful!
Doctor said the shot usually clears up about 80% of the ear infections with only 1 shot, but we go back tomorrow (Wednesday) for a follow-up to make sure the infection is clearing up. Based on last night, Mommy is thinking Drew is probably in the 20% that it doesn't work for :( I hope I'm wrong!

Drew's 1st Easter
Here is Drew with his very first Easter basket.
Drew with his bunny ears he made at school on Friday. He tried the Peeps, wasn't a fan. He didn't even want to touch them!
He wasn't sure about the chocolate bunny at first.
Once he got a taste of the chocolate, he was hooked! Starting to look a little territorial with the chocolate already!

Getting Better?
Last Friday Drew went back to the Doctor and he was put on the Third antibiotic. He seems to be getting better, but is still flicking his ear, so we might go back for a progress check today. Last night was quite an accomplishment though.... Drew has been sick for a whole month at least. During that time, he hasn't been sleeping good and has been waking up between 1-3 for a bottle. He's also been sleeping in bed with Mommy or Grandma more often since he's been sick. Last night he slept the entire night all by himself in his crib without waking up at all! Such a good boy!! Let's hope that sticks!
